Gross Floor Area: 167 m²
Location: Chem. de la Ronce, 91460 Marcoussis - France
Located in Marcoussis, France, this 167 m² single-family house is conceived as a compact and precise architectural composition, defined by the contrast between a solid concrete base and a continuous slate-clad upper volume. The project explores a clear dialogue between mass, texture, and landscape, creating a restrained contemporary residence closely connected to its garden setting.
The house is organized over two levels. The ground floor contains the working and social areas, including an office, kitchen, and common living space. Large glazed openings establish a direct relationship with the garden, allowing the interior to extend visually and functionally towards the exterior.
The first floor accommodates the private areas of the house, with two bedrooms and a complete bathroom. This upper volume is conceived as a unified envelope, where the slate cladding covers both the roof and the façades, reinforcing the continuity between roof and wall and giving the house a strong material identity.
Architecturally, the project is defined by simplicity, proportion, and material clarity. The concrete ground floor gives the house a sense of permanence and protection, while the slate-clad upper level introduces texture, continuity, and a more domestic scale. The result is a compact dwelling where structure, materiality, light, and landscape are brought together in a coherent architectural statement.
