Vilar de Mouros, Caminha
Year: 2025 - ….
Gross Floor Area: 218 m²
Location: Rua de Crasto - Vilar de Mouros - Caminha
Located in Vilar de Mouros, this single-family house is conceived as a linear volume in white concrete that explores the relationship between mass and void. The project is defined by a longitudinal parallelepiped that follows the geometry of the plot, where patios are carved into the solid volume to introduce light, privacy, and spatial depth.
Two patios structure the organization of the house. The first marks the entrance sequence, creating a transitional space between the exterior and the interior. The second forms a more intimate outdoor room that serves the kitchen and dining area, reinforcing the connection between domestic life and the open air.
On the ground floor, the social spaces develop along the volume, with the kitchen and dining area oriented toward the interior patio, while the living room opens toward the rear garden through a large glazed surface. The upper floor accommodates the bedrooms, organized around the patio and extending toward a balcony.
Through the contrast between solid white concrete surfaces, carefully positioned voids, and large glazed openings, the house establishes a balance between privacy and openness, creating a calm and coherent architectural expression.
